A move to bring forward the start of JCT600 Bradford League matches has received a cool response.

At the moment, the start time prior to September is 1.30pm but the captains and the umpires’ association wanted to make that 1pm.

However, in a non-binding straw poll of clubs and officials at the league’s rules revision meeting, only four votes were in favour and 13 against.

Farsley’s Ashley Metcalfe said: “The problem about starting earlier is that people disappear earlier, and from an income stream point of view it would have a major affect on clubs.”

However, as the proposal got a seconder, it will go forward to the league’s annual meeting on November 13.

A proposal by the management board, seconded by Manningham Mills, that the board of management be allowed to determine how match result sheets are transmitted to the league was much more favourably received. Sixteen were in favour and only three against after a successful trial of match result sheets being e-mailed by East Bierley.

Division Two’s bottom two, Hartshead Moor and Morley, have been unanimously re-elected.
