FARSLEY have won promotion back to Division One of the JCT600 Bradford League at the first attempt.

The leaders defeated second-placed KEIGHLEY by seven wickets at Red Lane to seal their return.

Ashley Metcalfe (4-41), Robert Thornton (3-25) and Lorenzo Inghram (2-23) helped to dismiss Keighley for 119 – and even that was boosted by 30 not out by wicketkeeper Richard Wood at No 9.

Inghram (66 not out) put on 54 for Farsley’s third wicket with Shabbir Rashid (38), the West Indian reaching his half-century off only 51 balls and hitting three sixes and six fours in all.

GOMERSAL have to visit Farsley on the last day of the season but are currently nine points clear in second place.

Richard Gould made 89, completing 1,000 runs for the season when he had reached 37, and adding 130 for the second wicket with Adam Greenwood (47) at HARTSHEAD MOOR.

Gould hit four sixes and nine fours as Gomersal rattled up 232 for six, Simon North taking a splendid four for 39 for the hosts.

Hartshead were then bowled out for 127, Greenwood taking six for 41 and Kashif Naveed three for 36.

Skipper James Clarke (72, including four sixes and six fours) and Nawa Sardar (54) were the mainstays of UNDERCLIFFE’S 204 for eight, Tahir Mahmood taking three for 47 in his full allocation.

But visitors IDLE were not daunted, Greg Pickles hitting eight sixes and four fours in his 96 not out to see them through by three wickets with four balls to spare.

Idle are third, while Keighley have dropped back to fourth.

BANKFOOT’S Greg Colehan took six for 17 as GREAT HORTON went down by eight wickets, while Peter Jackson’s 83 for SPEN VICTORIA helped them defeat WINDHILL by 23 runs, Ammar Mahmood hitting 65 not out for the losers.

Pieter Swanepoel’s eight for 26 cut a swathe through BRADFORD & BINGLEY’S batting at Wagon Lane as they were skittled for 47, Division One leaders WOODLANDS triumphing by seven wickets.

Meanwhile, SALTAIRE are out of a relegation place after taking a maximum off BRIGHOUSE, George Hicks hitting 114 not out (two sixes, 19 fours) and Tim Linley taking seven for nine as the hosts were all out for just 28.

BOWLING OLD LANE have replaced them after being dismissed for 64 by EAST BIERLEY, Paul Hutchison taking four for 20, Mitch Claydon three for 17 and Kez Ahmed three for 21.

Gulsheraz Ahmed’s seven for 18 set up ESHOLT for a three-wicket victory at home to MANNINGHAM MILLS.

Adam Patel (72), Andrew Bairstow (59), Matthew Doidge (44 not out), Glenn Roberts (3-44) and Jeremy Batty (4-30) all made significant contributions to PUDSEY CONGS’ full haul against HANGING HEATON.

And Alex Stead’s 55 was the difference for PUDSEY ST LAWRENCE in their eight-run triumph at YEADON.
