Keighley currently hold the longest unbeaten record in the JCT600 Bradford League Second Division but no-one is getting carried away at Lawkholme Lane.
Since their last league defeat on May 10 against Idle, they have won their last seven completed games.
But skipper Steven Reape and the experienced Richard Robinson are ensuring feet stay firmly on the ground ahead of Saturday's trip to Bankfoot.
Opening bowler Ross Towler said: “With those two in charge, they keep the lads level-headed.
“They are sensible, down-to-earth guys who don’t get too excited about individual games or players, and we are very lucky to have them around.”
Stuart Ratcliffe is another older head helping to bring on Keighley’s youngsters, and it was he who hit the winning runs in last week’s win over Morley with two balls to spare.
That came after they had just one ball left in beating Hartshead Moor the previous week, and Towler admitted: “We’ve not always been particularly consistent but we’ve scraped some good results.”
Saturday heralds the start of a crucial period for Keighley with games against promotion rivals Idle and Gomersal following Bankfoot.
But Towler said: “We don’t look at the table and pick out key games because of the nature of the division – all games are tough in this league.”
On Saturday's test, he added: “Bankfoot are a good set of lads who play hard but also in the right spirit.”
