Luke Waters seems to be a man in a hurry to score 1,000 runs in the Aire-Wharfe League season.
Tong Park Esholt’s Australian import, who totalled 703 runs last year and was second in the DIVISION TWO averages, hit his third successive century against Steeton on Saturday and those three innings have seen him accumulate 373 runs.
His latest knock of 113 included eight fours and four sixes but the rest of the side struggled against fellow Aussie Grant McDonald, who followed up last week’s six-wicket spell with eight for 89 as the home side were dismissed for 192.
John Akrigg led the response with a half-century as Steeton clinched victory with four wickets to spare.
Harden won the battle of the Division Two pacemakers surprisingly easily. Jeremy Batty hit an undefeated 77 in their 178 for six before Philip Leng got to work and took six for 33 as Bilton were skittled out for 94.
Sean Collings top-scored with 72 in Olicanian’s 185 and while Imran Mirza (74) put up stern resistance, he found little support from the rest of the Calverley batsmen and they were dismissed for 169, with Bernard Hughes taking six for 70.
Silsden continue to struggle after relegation but managed to hang on for two points at Upper Wharfedale. Cory Jacobs (5-56) restricted the home side to 216 but, with Dave Eggleton (8-47) taking regular wickets, Silsden could only manage 184 for nine (Lee Bilborough 55).
Bolton Villas seem to have lost the confidence they showed winning promotion last season and dropped to the bottom of the table after losing by five wickets to Illingworth.
Burley dropped their first point at Pool but went clear at the top of DIVISION ONE after Beckwithshaw ended Kirkstall Educational’s 100 per cent start to the season.
Mark Harrison, Charlie Davy and Nick Brook hit half-centuries in Burley’s 235 for four.
Ishtikhar Hussain (78) and Joe Pleasance (61) were the stars as Green Lane beat North Leeds by four wickets to take over third place, while Alex Rose’s 11-over spell of five for nine put Otley on the way to victory over Adel.
Adam Waite (47) top-scored in Guiseley’s 168 for seven but while Thackley never looked set to overtake the target, they managed to pick up two valuable points.
Jamie Pickering hit a second successive half-century but it was not enough to stop Rawdon collapsing to a fourth defeat in a row.
After Alwoodley were bowled out for 113, openers Robbie Miller (34no) and Robbie Owen (68no) steered Ben Rhydding to victory to keep them level at the top of DIVISION THREE with Colton, who overcame New Rover.
Nick Cockcroft (59) and Alex Bailey (47no) kept Ilkey in third place with a seven-wicket win over Horsforth, while Adam Campion (81) and John Storey (66) guided Menston past Hall Park’s 214 for nine (Sean Atkinson 96).
Steve Carling was dismissed on 94 for the second week in a row as Skipton had to settle for two points, falling 44 short of Bardsey’s 262 for seven (Graham Summersgill 5-58).
Adam Murray hit 40 in Addingham’s chase of Woodhouse’s 250 for six but the visitors had to settle for just a point.
