Idle Cricket Club, who have endured a difficult winter after having trophies and money stolen from their clubhouse, have finally had some good news.

The JCT600 Bradford League outfit have been chosen as a regional NatWest CricketForce showcase club.

Only of only ten clubs in the country to have this honour, they will be helped out by several Yorkshire players tomorrow (10am onwards) as they spruce up their Cavendish Road base.

The volunteers will be swelled by NatWest employees from their Greengates branch, and some of the jobs that will be undertaken are painting walls, boundary edges and benches, concreting external pavements, replacing damaged fencing and erecting CCTV cameras to improve security.

Other tasks include cutting back overgrown hedges, picking up litter, decorating the club’s interior, and clearing up the committee room, tea room and changing rooms, plus working on the square and outfield.

Idle’s cricket secretary Craig Milner said: "We still need donations of masonry paint, cement, wallpaper scrapers, paint brushes, sweeping brushes, paint trays and dust sheets, and improving the overall appearance of the club will not only benefit our members but also the community."

Craig can be contacted by e-mail at milnercraig@hotmail.com.

The Division Two club have also secured sponsorship from Janus Architecture, The Three Singhs Restaurant, Everbuild and The Best One (Bolton Road).
