Derbyshire have signed Pakistani bowler Rana Naved for this year’s Friends Life t20 competition.
The 33-year-old former Pudsey Congs pace man, who has previously played county cricket with Sussex and Yorkshire, is an experienced Twenty20 campaigner and topped the wicket-taking list in Australia’s recent Big Bash League while playing for Hobart Hurricanes.
Rana has played 74 one-day internationals for Pakistan, as well as nine Tests and four T20s.
He will also be able to deputise for the club’s other overseas signing, Usman Khawaja, in the LV= County Championship and Clydesdale Bank 40 should the batsman be required by Australia.
Derbyshire Head Coach Karl Krikken said: “Rana is a world-class bowler with vast experience and immense quality, as well as possessing tremendous striking ability with the bat.
“We wanted our second overseas player for the Friends Life t20 competition to be a game-changer and a match-winner.
“We have ticked those boxes with this signing.”
