A CENTURY from Mark Robertshaw was not enough for Pudsey St Lawrence as they were beaten by Wakefield Thornes in today's Yorkshire Cricket Premier League final in Abu Dhabi.

The Bradford Premier League champions put up a brave fight in chasing their opponents' formidable 50-over total of 296-6 but fell short on 257 all out with three balls left.

It looked like Saints were in for a hammering when they slumped to 28-3 but a 122-run stand between Robertshaw (112 from 132 balls) and captain James Smith (65) raised hopes. Chris Marsden also weighed in with 46 before St Lawrence wickets tumbled as the required rate rose.

Dave Toft was the star for the Yorkshire League South Premier champions when they batted first. He smashed 138 from 110 balls, hitting 14 fours and three sixes.

He put on 104 for the third wicket with Matt Jordan (48) to help Wakefield win the inaugural White Rose Trophy.
