BRIGHOUSE were not only thrashed by 284 runs in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford League Championship B Division.

They almost saw an all-time league record broken.

Leaders Townville racked up 391-5 – the highest score of the season – and their innings featured a third-wicket stand of 262 between Jack Hughes (169) and opener Jonathan Booth (141), which was only 14 runs short of the all-time league record held by Brighouse pair of Mark Gilliver and Haroon Rashid.

Hughes made his stunning 169 from just 106 balls, with eight sixes and 20 fours, while Ward's innings was punctuated with three sixes and 18 fours.

Aleem Ladak took 3-62 for Brighouse, who were shot out for 107 in reply, with Alex Page taking 5-23 and Hughes 3-20.

Good bowling from Arsalan Ijaz (4-17) and Sadaqat Zaman (3-37) enabled Bowling Old Lane to bowl out Altofts for 155 on their way to a six-wicket win.

Kieron Holliday (4-54) took all the Old Lane wickets to fall in their successful run chase.

Bottom team Hartshead Moor haven't had much to cheer this season but their 113-run win over Spen Victoria will have boosted spirits.

Opener Craig Field set the tone for the afternoon by hitting 16 fours in a fine knock of 113, and he was joined in a first-wicket stand of 124 by former Spen Victoria player James Hardcastle (71) as Hartshead Moor made

259-6.

Spen struggled against the bowling of in-form Danny Squire (6-43) and were all out for 146, Lawrence Davis top- scoring with 38.

Bankfoot's Shoukat Ali was another player to hit a century. He made an unbeaten 107 from just 72 balls as his side defeated Carlton by 40 runs.

Ali smashed nine sixes and seven fours to enable his side to build on opener Micky Hurtchins' knock of 68 and post 242-6.

Chris Wynd (55) led a spirited Carlton response of 202 but Indian spinner Marupuri Suresh (3-43) and Ali (3-30) ensured that Bankfoot emerged with maximum points.

Shoail Raz (5-32) and Ben Waite (3-31) filled the void left by the early departure of overseas player Samuel Mofokeng by setting up their side's six-wicket win at Gomersal.

Their efforts helped Methley dismiss the hosts for 159, Jack Seddon top-scoring with 37, before Ashton Blakey's unbeaten 69 saw them to their target.

Like Townville, second-placed Wrenthorpe also collected maximum points as they defeated Hopton Mills by 103 runs.

Greg Wood (61), Darryl Hendricks (48), Jordan Sleightholme (38) and James Smith (37no) enabled them to reach 255-8 before dismissing their opponents for 152.

Michael Carroll top scored with 47 as Matthew Race (3-18) and Jonathan Rudge (3-38) wrapped up victory.
