UNDERCLIFFE'S bowlers may have been clobbered on Sunday by Pudsey St Lawrence but their batsmen were certainly in a hurry when they faced leaders Batley in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Championship A Division the day before.

Opener Jonny Barton set the tone as he made 75 from 35 balls, including five sixes and six fours.

Overseas player Michael Loubser continued the good work with 57 from 41 balls, an innings in which he hit six sixes and a four as Undercliffe made 244-6 from 41 overs, when they declared.

After a break for rain, Batley made 26-1 in seven overs before the weather brought an early end to the game.

Yeadon were another of the promotion-chasing teams to declare after their game was delayed due to rain.

They scored 210-8 in 45.3 overs, thanks largely to opener James Todd's 85 and 40 from Steve Simpson.

Baildon skipper Simon Bailey (5-71) profited as Yeadon lost wickets in pursuit of quick runs but a further downpour prevented Baildon from replying.

Birstall were in sight of only their second win of the season when their home encounter with Liversedge was abandoned.

Saif Ur-Rehman (6-58) had produced the day's best bowling display to reduce Liversedge to 115-8.

Matthew Dyson led the way with 50, while Ian Carradice (35) and Craig Wood (34) provided the bulk of Birstall's 166. Graeme Winn (4-42) and Simon Kay (3-39) were the best of the Liversedge bowlers.

Khalid Mehmood's 52 was the highlight of Idle's 142-8 in the 47 overs play that was possible in their home game with Keighley.

It was a similar picture at Roberts Park, where Ossett reached 141-9 in 47.2 overs before the rain came and washed away any prospect of further play. Raheel Ahmed (40) and Harvey Anderson (32) were the top scorers.
