BATLEY are the only team with an unbeaten record in Championship A of the All Rounder Bradford League after they secured a nail-biting one wicket win at Keighley.

The man they have to thank for their third win of the season is Asif Ayub, who made an unbeaten 49 as he guided them home after Matthew Haines (4-49) threatened to win the game for Keighley.

The Keighley score of 177 was built around a maiden Bradford Premier League century for Australian Ben Hastie. He hit five sixes and nine fours in his 101, while Muhammad Tahir (4-12) was the pick of the Batley bowlers.

Yeadon, who started the day in top spot, are now 14 points behind Batley after being spun to defeat by Saltaire’s overseas leggie Tanzeel Altaf.

He took 6-20 as Yeadon were bowled out for 115. Arbaab Hussain (36no) steered Saltaire to their six-wicket win.

There was no happy homecoming for Idle as they played on their Cavendish Road pitch for the first time since vandals caused damage to the square and outfield.

They suffered a 103-run defeat against Hunslet Nelson after being bowled out for just 87 in reply to their opponents’ score of 190-9.

Hassan Hussain’s 64 was the key feature of the Hunslet Nelson innings, while Max Chappel (4-33) and skipper Will Stiff (3-17) were the bowlers who sealed their success.

Birstall are still searching for their first win after an 83-run defeat against Undercliffe.

They were undone by paceman Zeeshan Qasim (6-16) and spinner Amir Hussain (3-16) as they were bowled out for just 100 in reply to Undercliffe’s 183. Gulsheraz Ahmed (45) top scored for Undercliffe.

Baildon’s new Australian Blake Green took 5-41 and Abid Awan (4-44) as they skittle Liversedge for 91 to set up an eight-wicket win. Jack Hainsworth hit an unbeaten 27 for Baildon.
