OVERSEAS player Tanzeel Altaf enjoyed a fine debut for Saltaire, taking 6-46 as the Roberts Park club defeated Keighley by three wickets in the opening round of Championship A Division matches in the All Rounder Bradford Premier League.

Altaf, who spent 2014 and 2015 with Cleckheaton, ensured that Keighley (167) were unable to capitalise on a determined 71 from opener Andrew Wear.

Amjid Hussain (34no) top-scored as Saltaire eased to their target, despite good bowling from Mohammed Shahnawaz (5-35).

Meanwhile, runs were in short supply at Yeadon, where 16 wickets fell for just 107 runs.

Yeadon eventually won by four wickets but not before they plunged to 14-6 after dismissing Hunslet Nelson for 53, Oliver Halliday's 28 not out helping them home.

Michael Hunter took 3-10 for Yeadon, while Nelson bowler Suleman Hussain bagged 5-6 but still ended up on the losing side.

In Championship B Division, Wrenthorpe made the day's highest total (318-5 in 44 overs) in crushing Brighouse by 178 runs – Luke Patel marking his return to the club with an unbeaten 101, including three sixes and ten fours.

Overseas player Darrell Hendricks hit 91 and shared a second-wicket stand of 113 with Patel, Chris Leaf producing some late fireworks with 46 from 16 balls, hitting five sixes and three fours.

Brighouse quickly subsided to 48-8 before Aleem Ladak (46no) and Daanyaal Ahmed (31) made the final score of 140 a little more respectable, Jonathan Rudge taking 5-15.

Townville made 302-4 in their 147-run win over Gomersal, Jonathan Hughes hitting 106 (three sixes, 15 fours) and adding 159 with overseas player Matthew Bremner (83) before the evergreen Tim Walton thrashed 50 not out from 24 balls, including four sixes and three fours.

Hughes then followed up with 3-25 as Gomersal were restricted to 155-9.

Last season's Central Yorkshire League champions Methley were 66-8 at Hartshead Moor before recording a 29-run win.

Nasseer Saudegar (5-38) and Danny Squire (4-36) put Moor in command but Edward Walmsley made a patient 30 not out to steer his side to 119 and his runs proved crucial.

Hartshead Moor were bowled out for 91, 31 of which were extras, as Joshua Sullivan (4-0) and Marcus Walmsley (3-25) weighed in.

There was a high-scoring game at Carlton where the home side went down by 29 runs to Bowling Old Lane.
