WOODLANDS are through to the SOLLY SPORTS HEAVY WOOLLEN CUP final after dismantling Pudsey Congs' batting line-up.

The JCT600 Bradford League First Division title-chasers made 189 at Albert Terrace and then dismissed holders Congs for just 55.

Only Joe Greaves (11) and Luke Holroyd (13), whose birthday was yesterday, made double figures as Woodlands' first three bowlers tore through the visitors' batting.

Sarfraz Ahmed took 4-10 off nine overs, Elliot Richardson 3-29 off seven and Duncan Snell 3-10 off 4.2 as the Congs innings only lasted 23.2 overs.

Earlier, Jordan Laban completed a fine weekend with the bat by scoring 49 and wicket-keeper Greg Finn 32, adding 73 precious runs for the seventh wicket after Woodlands had seemed in trouble at 64-5.

Congs skipper Gareth Phillips (3-28 off ten) was chiefly responsible for that early shutter of wickets and Kez Ahmed (2-32 off ten) and Mustafa Rafique (3-39 off eight) mopped up the middle order and the tail to set up what had looked an interesting run-chase – until the second innings began.

Woodlands will play Hoylandswaine in the final at Ossett on Sunday, August 2.

The Drakes Huddersfield League side were involved in a much higher-scoring semi-final at Central Yorkshire League side Townville, with the visitors racking up 268-9 before restricting the hosts to 231.

Former Bradford League players Alex Morris (76, Hanging Heaton) and Gharib Nawaz (45, Saltaire) put on 119 for Hoylandswaine's first wicket, Peter Hepworth finishing with 3-27 and skipper Nick Bresnan 2-38 before Conor Harvey made 62, Bresnan 40 and Chris Holliday 31 in the reply, Ben Potter taking 3-39 and Kesrick Williams 3-61.
