SCHOLES, after a shock 17-run defeat at Yeadon on Saturday, narrowed the gap on Morley at the top of JCT600 Bradford League Division Two to six points on Sunday.

With leaders Morley having no game on the Sabbath, newcomers Scholes notched a 135-run win over Bowling Old Lane.

Opener Kasir Maroof continued his good form with 44 but it was the third-wicket partnership of 101 between Yasir Ali (66) and overseas player Atif Zaidi (62) that pushed Scholes to 251, Khurram Maqsood doing his best for Old Lane with 4-29.

Ali then crowned a good individual performance by taking 4-22 as he and skipper James Stansfield (5-15) bowled out Old Lane for 116.

Overseas paceman Waqas Maqsood took 6-63 to secure a 26-run win for Baildon over Hartshead Moor, and one of his victims was Fahad Ul-haq, Hartshead Moor's overseas player, who made 96 of his side's 187.

Baildon had built their 213-7 around Jonny Reynolds (57no) and Nahim Ashraf (34), Hartshead Moor skipper Will Smith taking 6-73 against one of his former clubs.

Bankfoot recorded their second win of the weekend when they defeated Gomersal by 32 runs. Crucial to their success was a last-wicket stand of 45 between top-scorer Hisan Ahmad (58) and Kamran Siddique (17no), the only other player to reach double figures in their 131. James Russell took 5-40 and Josh Fell 3-51 for Gomersal, who were dismissed for 99.

The day's best individual performance came from Windhill's Muhammad Yasin, who made 113 (including 13 fours) and took 5-14 as his side beat bottom team Idle, who were skittled for 66, by 195 runs.

An opening stand of 121 between Jake Wray (71) and James Todd (53) propelled Yeadon to an eight-wicket win over Brighouse, chasing down the visitors' 215-6 in 31.4 overs, Oliver Stephenson weighing in with an unbeaten 55.

Brighouse's Sohail Hussain found himself on the losing side, despite making an unbeaten 110 (one six, 16 fours).

Keighley recovered from 85-6 to chase down Spen Victoria's 199-8 and record only their second win of the season.

Jonathan Wilkinson (49) and Jack Beetham (36) turned Keighley's fortunes around in a three-wicket victory. Spen's total owed much to Bilal Ejaz's 74 not out.

Todd marked his first game free from the Yeadon captaincy with an unbeaten century on Saturday as Scholes were beaten.

His 100 not out included four sixes and eight fours and was backed up by Oliver Halliday (40) and Jake Wray (39) in Yeadon's 224-6.

Scholes, despite a determined 84 from former Yeadon opener Maroof, were dismissed for 207 as Altaf Mohammad took 6-49.
