Manningham Mills have been voted out of the JCT600 Bradford League.

The members clubs voted 17-7, with one abstention, at an extraordinary meeting at Pudsey Congs tonight.

The vote was called after the club failed to pay fines, failed to administer the club properly and failed to address issues about the state of their ground.

The league’s chief executive David Young put the case for the board before the vote took place, stating: “The club have paid £195 in fines but they still have outstanding fines of £465.

“The initial fine was only £75 in April but it has been doubled and then doubled again because of non-payment in accordance with rule 11.”

The league prepared a statement on Mills before the meeting, which said: “The general administration of the club has been unacceptable this season, with requests for information being consistently late.

“The club has struggled to raise two sides. On one occasion at the appointed start time, only three players were present and the changing rooms locked. The game started 55 minutes late.

“The league has had numerous complaints about the state of the club’s ground this season.”

These included glass and litter outside the playing area, a lack of seating and unrepaired sightscreens.

Mills representative Michael Kaye, who has been involved at the club for 36 years, then made a passionate plea on their behalf, saying that Richard Robinson would be employed as a groundsman, helped by Abdul Jabbar, and that a new committee would come on board.

On hearing of the result of the vote, an angry Kaye said: “I am disgusted with the lot of you,”, and left.

Idle (23-0) and Great Horton (15-8) were re-elected for next season at the league meeting that followed the extraordinary meeting.

Meanwhile, Solly Sports Central Yorkshire League club Scholes have been admitted to the league for 2015.
