By the time we play Crusaders, we’ll have had another two weeks without a game and that’s certainly given a lot of the lads a chance to recover from some of the knocks and injuries they have picked up during the season.
It gives your body a chance to heal and a couple of lads who have been out for a while are just about ready to come back now, so that means healthy competition for places.
The extra training time has also given us a chance to have a good look at where we have been going wrong and try to do something about it.
Spirits were a bit low, although that’s only natural when you’ve lost three on the trot, but now we are all looking forward to the last two games.
The sides we have to play are below us in the table but we are aware that they are still dangerous and in Crusaders’ case, they have nothing to lose so can come out with a full bag of tricks.
However they play, we know it’s up to us to make sure we finish our season on a positive note.
The open training day was a great idea and a chance to get closer to the fans, giving them an idea of the work we do during the week.
It was nice to be able to mingle and have a chat and hopefully the fans enjoyed it. We really do appreciate their support and, with the success of the pledge idea last year, it has been great to play in front of big crowds again this season.
We know we haven’t always performed the way they wanted us to but all the lads hope the fans stick by the pledge scheme and take advantage of prices that make it affordable for whole families to come on a regular basis.
There were times this season where the atmosphere from the terraces was like we’d turned the clock back ten years and I hope that next season everyone will come along again and maybe we can turn the clock back to those times on the pitch as well.
