We can't write off our play-off chances

Everyone is still on a high after Huddersfield.

It was an outstanding result and probably as well as we’ve played for a long time.

It was a really clinical performance and, looking at the statistics, it was the first time we were able to hit every target we set ourselves before the game.

They made errors but a lot of the errors they did make were down to the pressure we applied on them right from the start.

Speaking to some of their players after the game, they said if we can maintain that level of performance and sneak into the play-offs, there will be a lot of teams worried about facing us.

We had a week off, and if we’d lost going into that break it would have left us with a lot to think about while we were away.

Instead, the boys got to rest their bodies, refresh their minds and get ready for this week’s game against Warrington.

It will be tough to get into the play-offs but it’s still possible, and we can’t write off our own chances just yet.

We are playing some top sides in our final games, and a couple of those fixtures are away, but we have to be confident.

We’ve put ourselves in this position – it’s our own fault – but if we can get near to the level of performance we managed against Huddersfield we’ll stand a good chance.

Warrington are one of the top three teams in the competition and have a squad full of internationals.

On the back of their cup defeat against Wigan, Smithy will have them fired up to provide a response and they’ll look to start quickly.

But hopefully we’ll be ready for that and the boys will approach the game full of confidence, ready to compete.

It’s a shame I won’t be ready to play myself but ligament injuries are always difficult because you have to make sure you’re completely ready to come back.

Hopefully with another week’s rest, I’ll be ready to return in the home game against Hull KR.
