Every game against Leeds at Headingley is a massive fixture and tomorrow night will be no different.
We’ve played them twice so far and potentially should have come away with wins in both. We got off to really good starts and pushed them close but we didn’t do enough to finish them off.
Leeds are such a dangerous side who can score points from anywhere and they’re never going to lay down and die for you.
It was the same playing them away last year when they came back at us to win. Hopefully we can learn from those near misses and finish off the job this time.
A large part of rugby league comes down to momentum and we’ve just got to be a little bit smarter when they’ve got the ball.
You’ll never have it all your own way in games and it’s important that we don’t start thinking we’ve done the job if we get into a good position. Leeds have that quality to score quickly on you.
We’re definitely due a win over there. I played in our last one in 2007 when big Les finished off his time at the club with a cracking game.
I can still see him taking that kick to the corner and running 80 metres to score. It was a great way for the big fella to leave.
Tomorrow will be a special game for Disco after playing for Leeds for 12 years. That’s such a large chunk of his life, so I’m sure it will be a strange experience for him going back with their biggest rivals.
I know for a fact that he is really looking forward to it and once he gets out there, any friendships will be pushed to one side until after the game.
Losing to Hull was a big disappointment for everyone but games don’t come any bigger than Leeds away, so it’s great motivation to get back out there and put things right.
Meanwhile, I’m happy to report that our kitman Lee Beattie has recently started Weightwatchers again. He did it this time last year and came away with a gold star.
He came in this week with a certificate bragging to the lads after losing 3lb. Hopefully this time he has the willpower to keep it going.
