Bradford Bulls must be wary of Hull threat

Jamie Langley column

Hull always seem to pull out a performance against us.

No matter what form they’re in going into the game they always manage to go well, so we’re expecting them to be at the top of their game on Sunday – especially as there’s so much riding on it.

It’s being seen as a big game in terms of the race for the play-offs but we have to put all thoughts of that aside.

We can’t afford to put ourselves under too much pressure. It’s another league game, another two points, and we have to take it as it comes on the pitch.

We’re going into the game with confidence and we’ve shown a lot of improvement in recent weeks.

Our last plays are getting better every week and they will be crucial against Hull. BJ (Ben Jeffries) has steadied us since coming in and it’s an area where we’ve already improved vastly – but can still improve more.

Meanwhile, our annual golf day was this week and for once we actually got some good weather for it; blue skies and sun rather than the usual wind and rain.

There was a good turnout but somehow, every time we do something competitive like this Pottsy (Mick Potter) ends up on a team with the best players.

I don’t know how it works out that way but this time he ended up with a professional golfer and won the whole tournament.

The strangest moment came when I was driving in the golf buggy with kitman Lee Beattie and, in the distance, we spotted somebody wandering round in the trees.

We both thought ‘that’s odd’ so decided to take a closer look and when we got close we realised it was Donno (James Donaldson).

He was looking around in these big pine trees and then started trying to shake one of them. We had to find out what he was doing and it turns out he hit the ball high into the trees and it never came down again.

It doesn’t say much for the common sense of the lad really.
