We, as players, have had a lot more input this week for tomorrow’s game against Harlequins.
Obviously we were out there just last Sunday playing the same opponents, so we had first-hand experience of what was going on out on the pitch.
So it’s been a bit of a different approach this week compared to previous rounds.
We always do have a say but the majority of the analysis is done by the coaching staff. They watch the videos and put the game-plan in place from what they see, but this time we’re in a better position to do that so we’ve been coming up with some ideas.
It’s a rare chance to go play the same team back-to-back like this. Occasionally it might happen in the Challenge Cup but hardly ever in Super League.
In some respects we don’t have to do as much homework; Quins are still fresh in our minds.
They put quite a few second phase inside balls on us at Odsal, which caused us a little trouble, so that’s something we have to work on tomorrow afternoon.
We’re well aware of that this time around and we know how solid an outfit Harlequins are.
They play percentages well and took their chances when they came, especially after we piggy-backed them with cheap penalties late in the count. We can’t make that mistake again.
There’s been an anonymous warning sent out to Andy Lynch.
He’s been mixing it up lately with his pranking and some of the lads decided to get him back – putting one of his boots in the dressing room freezer.
All hell broke loose. Lynch being the Grinch he is he couldn’t just repay them but had to up the ante ten-fold. Rikki and Koppy copped for it.
I’m not saying they did it but the Grinch targeted them anyway and they came in to find ALL their gear in the freezer. They had to sit in it thawing out in front of the heaters before starting training! It’s upset a few people. The Grinch has been warned!
