The Bulls will feature in the old BBC2 Floodlit Trophy when it is played this summer for the first time in nearly 30 years.

Leeds Metropolitan University are hosting the tournament, with six Super League clubs among the entries for the Carnegie Floodlit 9s at Headingley Carnegie on Wednesday, August 27.

Bradford - who hope to be in action in the Carnegie Challenge Cup final that weekend - plan to field a youthful side.

Huddersfield, Hull, Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will also be represented.

Leeds Met's own team, which reached the third round of the Challenge Cup this year, will take part in the ten-team tournament alongside the British Army, Cumbria and a UK-based Fiji side.

The Floodlit Trophy was awarded annually from 1965-79 to winners of the first major sporting competition to be played regularly under floodlights.

Three champions of the original trophy - Hull KR, Hull and Leeds - will be taking part in the tournament, which also revives the tradition of the Headingley Sevens hosted by Leeds from 1965-78.

Before the main event, amateur clubs and development teams will take part in an invitational junior tournament.

  • All the Bulls' Super League squad will be attending a race night at Grattan Stadium on Saturday, May 24.
  • Supporters have a chance to meet their heroes during the evening, which is held in the Coral Stand.

Admission is £3.50 for adults and £1.50 juniors, including hot dog and chips. Doors open at 6.30pm with the first race starting an hour later.
