    Macca slams 'dreadful' Bulls
    Bulls boss Steve McNamara
    Bulls boss Steve McNamara

Fuming Bulls boss Steve McNamara labelled his side "dreadful" after they shipped more than 40 points against their biggest rivals for the second time this season.

Bradford led Leeds Rhinos 10-6 at the break in Cardiff but fell away terribly in the second half, conceding six tries, to lose 40-26.

There was none of the drama or controversy of last year's Millennium Magic, when Bradford were victims of some catastrophic refereeing decisions.

They lost to the better side and it was all their own doing.

McNamara said: "It doesn't get much more disappointing than this and it's not good enough.

"We started dreadfully slowly and our kicking game was really poor but then the second half was even worse.

"We only held onto the ball five times. At half-time we spoke about gifting them ball from poor kicks and then decided not to kick it at all but just give it to them.

"We made it even easier for Leeds. I'm disappointed with everyone and I include us all in that."

Despite plenty of Leeds pressure, Bulls were up at the break through Semi Tadulala's seventh-minute try and three goals from Paul Deacon.

But new French signing Eric Anselme scored 46 seconds after the restart and Leeds continually exploited Bradford's poor right-hand side from deep.

Keith Senior, Scott Donald, Brent Webb and Kylie Leuluai all got in before Ryan Hall's interception, making Tadulala's second, Shontayne Hape's effort and Sam Burgess' score on the hooter redundant.

what a joke complaining about the kicking game what does he expect with deacon he is useless 2 more years of him we are going backwards everybody else is moving forward apart from the bulls we are not going to win anything for along time whats happened to jamie langley?hape is saving himself for union toupu why is he playing him?does he no that he is playing wing not center?the whole play is so slow and predictable we have nothing to frighten teams with the worst hair back pairing in super league even cas have a better pairing

Well let's not get carried away chaps. It's only last week they beat Wigan. Bulls are way short of Leeds and I suspect every other side is at the moment. What I would give to see McLennan coaching the Bulls. He really is special, But Bulls can't afford such luxuries these days.

I think Macca had some mad idea about using Toupou at prop but couldn't when Evans got injured. I hope now he'll stop toying with that idea as TT doesnt use his weight enough even on the wing and he looks way below standard of Super League.

Costs too much..Leeds would have offerd him a much bigger contract. A shame though.

I don't understand. The team yesterday was a former shadow of last week's team. Unfortunately we lacked leadership and coersion yesterday.
Ok it wasn't a bad 1st half however the second half was very mediocre and bordering woeful at times. I said in my previous posting that it was a bad idea to have Harris on and I think my point was duely justified.
A kick out on the full followed by some awful passing and attempted dummies, it was a shambolic display from him.
They need to regroup now and focus on next week's game against the Catalans and hopefully regain the form that won them the Wigan game.

Where is this pace and athleticism that we have supposed to have brought in?

Absolutley no pace in the three quaters, beaten from 60 yards 4 times.

    Disgusting.

OK Bully, but if you feel you want to mention Harris in those terms..Halley completely missd a high bomb and looked as though he was far too small to break the line, Sykes dropped 2 and looked poor, Hape looked too slow at times, Sol's passing was awful and he threw away whatever chance of a comeback there may have been, Newton was woeful etc., etc., Why pick on Harris??

Where was this organisation and leadership that captain fantastic Paul Deacon supposedly offers us and we couldn't cope without according to his fans?

thanku charlie how many times have me and lj talked about how bad deacon is but people on here say he is great another 2 years of him what a waste of money even his goal kicking is getting bad now he offers the team nothing to thick to slow

Dont say that about him, his kicking is absolute class and he's the only scrum half the Aussies genuinley fear. Add that to Harris and we have the greatest half back pairing in the Super League.

Hang on a minute you lot! The Bulls scored 26 points against the Rhinos..doesn't that tell you it was defence that let us down? Whats all this rubbish about Deak's lack of organisation?? Not many will create 26 points against Leeds.

I have to agree with haitch on this one. Bulls were poor last night but Leeds weren't exactly brilliant. Macca said the kicking game let them down first half. So what? We were winning at half time!!!! They put their heads down and it cost them dearly. I've said it since the Wakey game that its about time he shipped Tupou off the team! He was absolutely useless and let in at least 2 tries!!! He is an absolute shambles and I'm sure there must be other players who could fill that role. I want to see Platt come back in the team and I would love to see him given a shot on the wing. He can't do any worse than Tupou can he? I'm sorry but that player is a disgrace to that shirt!

I don't like to call him a disgrace but Toupou is unfortunately not good enough. He has all the physical attributes but can't use them and should indeed be offloaded. I agree entirely with the view Leeds were not brilliant and one could hardly say Burrows was any better than Deaks. However, Leeds can point to a badly weakened pack but we were still unable to match them.

Tupou vs Scott Donald. Ordinarily on size alone Tupou should have got him every time but he didn't. Tupou should be dropped next week and someone else should be given a chance in his place. Bulls were not brilliant but neither were Leeds. Think Bulls missed Jefferies as Harris didn't really do anything for me

Well I think you should all be disgusted in yourselves!! Call yourselves bulls fans, you should all find yourself another team to support, preferably a team who WINS all the time. You should be able to take the defeats as well as the wins. I have supported the bulls for years, and I NEVER put the team down just because they have lost a match!! You are ALL disgraceful.

the defeat against leeds imo lies firmly at the feet of the coach,at half time we were well and truly in the match. Leeds score three identical trie Mclennan had seen tupou drifting in from the wing and leeds exploited that weakness. We battled well but the sykes fumble really hurt us.Silverwood has reffed us 5 times this season and weve won one

Now stop it LJ! You've got me agreeing with you. Some folks like to bury their heads at times like this.Truth is (maybe mickeyb missed it) Its not the first game Leeds have thrashed us this season and it hurts!. Even more so when you look at who were missing for them. Had we even run Leeds close yesterday we could have all had some optomism.

Any one there would have seen that the Whinos brought on "Moses" in the second half! How else could the defence magically part 3 times to allow them easy tries. It was a typical stuttering Bulls performance and we have seen plenty of those even in our Champion winning years. Big Joe was embarrassed as he jogged from the Stadium to the Hotel trying to hide behind talking on the phone. But despite the result its a good occaision with plenty of banter. I feel that that Bulls will bounce back against the Catlans who are proving to be very tough opposition these days.

    Nothing we didnt already know!!!
The Bulls are carrying too many "PUB PLAYERS".
Thats why we are winning one week losing the next......Hate to say it but Leeds won this game, and never got out of second gear!!

Just like the rest will have to wether they like it or not.

We are not that good of a side.

I've never read such nergative rubbish in all my life. mclennan has been handed a stable, successful team that probably i could coach. while we have a few donkeys that are the legacy of our former chairman and coach. what we need is stability which is what we had in our successful period. noble was handed a stable team, saints were the same. now it's our transition time. if we can keep most of the younger players we have now for a few years then i'm sure that once again we'll be very successful. when harris is gone next year then there will be money in the pot to replace the older chaps. but who can really complain about the cheap players that macca has brought in this year?? they are playing really well for us. we have a donkey that came to replace les and who now needs shipping back to whence he came as soon as possible and a player who has under performed for 4 years and being payed a fortune. stop being glory supporters and look at some of the reasons why we aren't performing very well instead of just blaming the coach. i want to see us win just like the rest but have an understanding as to why we are not in top possition.
Posted by: LeagueJunkie!!!, Lost Again. on 10:57pm Sun 4 May 08
Well, CJ, we wouldn't be so negative if we actually had something to be positive about, right?

We are not glory supporters and we do look at why we are not performing well.

They are, we have a poor coach, who is tactically naive, has poor recruitment policy and has assembled a shambles of a coaching team.

We have few players with pace, one of those we have is absolutley clueless, numerous players without a heart, poor halfbacks, low skill levels, at times poor commitment and our fitness at times is shocking.

Those are the reasons why we are not performing well.

What others can you think of?

Or do you actually think we are performing well?

Much of what you say cj is fine. The one area where you could not be more wrong is your suggestion that McLennan is winning because he inherited a winning squad. Believe me this man is a top, top coach. He didn't inherit a winning team as NZ Coach but just ask the Aussies how good he is. NZ were gutted when he left them.
Posted by: cj on 11:03pm Sun 4 May 08
i agree that he is a top coach haitch, but the fact is that he has inheritted a stable team which is a big part of being a successful team.

Keith "Big Bully" Booaza is gutted.

Firstly what a great day out it was on Saturday and there comes the first problem. Why didn't I get a ticket for the sunday as well?

Secondly where were all the Rhinos fans. World Champions but they numbered about the same as Huddersfield. There were more Catalans.

Thirdly, we were absolute gash on Saturday. What's the point in playing if they are going to give the game away like that. They only have themselves to blame because from where I was sat the Rhinos didn't look that good going forward. Probably because they didn't need to because Bulls were rubbish.

and Thirdly Natalya has left me and is going back to Gdansk. It looks like I'll have to move back in with Mum because I can't afford the bedsit on my own.

All in all a great weekend but it's rubbish to be back.

I've been writing TO Christa Ackroyd. She's a goddess. I used go out with her in the seventies but times have changed since then. I aren't a free scoring winger anymore.

May be I could catch her on her way out of work in Leeds?
