A FORMERarmy major has become procurement manager for Yorwaste, the Northallerton-based waste company which covers North Yorkshire and Teesside.
Kevin Smith, 39, a father of two who lives near York, has spent his entire career in the Army, joining straightfromuniversity in 1995. During his time he has commanded soldiers in battleandworkedintheArmy’s procurement division which involved sourcing supplies and services and ensuring value for money.Hisnew job will seehim manage contracts and work on improving the company’s supply chain.
He said: “Itis a big difference going from being shot in battle to working for a company like Yorwaste, but I am really looking forward to my new role and learning about the waste managementindustry.”
