Jamie Foster column: We had a great win at Wakefield last weekend and, on a personal note, I was very happy with how I played.

My grandad is probably my biggest critic and after the game he didn’t have too many bad things to say about it, which was pleasing.

Looking at the bigger picture, it’s not about individual performances. I prefer me to have a bad game and the team do well because it’s all about the team.

If I can offer things on that left edge then great, because I really do enjoy it.

I think if we can beat Catalan then I believe it could all come down to that last game at home to Huddersfield.

Castleford and London will be tough games too, but we just need to focus on beating Catalan first and it would give us a huge chance.

I genuinely believe that and we’re playing well and doing the right things in games.

We’ve been a little bit dumb at times, such as turning possession over, but we’ve started to smarten up and if we can put that towards our defensive efforts then I think we’re going to be really tough to stop.

It’s not about scraping into the eight and then rolling over in the first play-off game – we have more ambition than that.

We have a reunion with Elliott Whitehead this weekend and it will be good to see him.

I came through all the England representative sides with Elliott and we toured Australia together as juniors before becoming good mates when I joined Bradford.

I’ll definitely be shaking his hand when I see him but that will definitely be after the 80 minutes and not before.

I didn’t see Elliott’s departure coming at all. I just got a call from him the night before to say that it was happening.

Franny rightly said that if you’re not 100 per cent committed to the club then you’re not going to be giving 100 per cent on the field.

Franny did the right thing but I’m glad Elliott got his move to Catalan and wish him all the very best because he’s an awesome player and I rate him up there as one of the best back-rowers in the game.
