Jamie Foster column: It goes without saying that I’m absolutely gutted to miss this weekend’s trip to St Helens.

Saints are my hometown team, I effectively grew up there and still have a lot of friends at the club.

I’ll be in the stands watching though, without a doubt. I’ll be first in and last out.

I’m good mates with a lot of the players and we probably all live within a five-mile radius of each other.

We all eat at similar places and they’re a really good set of lads.

I’ve said many times before, I’ve got nothing against them whatsoever. It’s not about trying to get revenge or anything like that.

It’s just the competitive side in us which comes out. We want to win and I’m sure they do too.

Without any doubt, when my club is coming up against Saints, I want to win.

If we could put 60 points on them this weekend, let’s do it.

The way things ended for me there weren’t ideal last year.

I’ve not spoken a word to (former Saints head coach) Mike Rush since I left and I have no real interest in doing so.

We never really clicked when I was there and I can’t see him ringing me up any time soon for a game of golf.

It’s just a massive game for me. Even though I’m not playing it means a lot to go back there.

I just hope we put a performance in just to show people what we are about.

It’s so frustrating at times because we know how good we are but we’re not performing.

It’s becoming a familiar story. We’re saying the same things week in, week out.

It can’t keep happening. It’s not the way it should work and we’ve got to address it very soon.

I think we’re going into a time now when we need to stick together.

If you’ve got 13 players on the pitch and only 12 are pulling in the same direction then you can’t get away with it.

We’ve learnt lessons already this season and had a couple of spankings. It’s time to address it and start moving forward.
