Jamie Foster column: Last week’s 22-22 draw at Widnes was incredibly frustrating but I think we were our own worst enemy at times during the second half.

I didn’t go into the dressing room at half-time because I wasn’t playing but I was sat with a few of the other injured boys and we thought we were cruising.

Gareth Hock, who is probably their main man, had gone off and we had already racked up some points to lead 20-4 at the break.

I thought we were going to kick on but we just shot ourselves in the foot and didn’t complete any sets in that second half.

I don’t care who you are playing – it could be a team from the Championship – if you don’t have the ball then you’re not going to beat the opposition in front of you.

On a personal level, it was disappointing to miss out through injury.

I took a bang on my right shoulder pretty late on in the Huddersfield game when I tackled Jermaine McGillvary.

I’ve been having a lot of treatment on it this week and it looks pretty promising that I’ll be available on Sunday.

It absolutely kills me watching games when I can’t play and this was the first game I had really missed injury-wise for a couple of years.

It’s frustrating at the moment with the amount of injuries we seem to have picked up but Adrian Purtell has been given the go-ahead to resume his playing career and that is brilliant news for everyone at the club, especially Purts.

The spirit among the squad is strong. We went go-karting and had coffees together on Wednesday and a load of the lads went down to Cheltenham on Thursday.

Luke Gale thinks he’s Bet Fred, trying to give you every bit of info under the sun about every single horse, although I’m more into my football betting. It’s about team-bonding.

Roll on Sunday and Hull KR now.
