Jamie Foster column

Well, what a way to bounce back from the St Helens defeat. We knew we had to go to Huddersfield and perform, which is exactly what we did.

I went over for a try late on and was gutted to see it get disallowed. I couldn’t believe it and the touch judge actually came over to me as I was walking off the pitch and said ‘I wasn’t too sure, Jamie, and it’s not affected the game anyway’.

I was a bit cheesed off with that because I’m getting pressure to score tries from fans on Twitter who have got me in their fantasy teams.

It didn’t matter at the end of the day, although it would have been nice to get over and boost my points tally.

I said at the start of the season that I wanted to kick goals consistently well and I believe I’m now backing that up.

I’ve always been up there as one of the best one or two in the league. This year I want to be number one and the way it’s going I just don’t feel as if I’m going to miss a kick.

I was really happy for the team, more than anything, at Huddersfield and I definitely feel as though I’m playing my part.

Franny wants me to command things in that left edge and keep people talking and on their toes. That’s something I really enjoy doing and I think the tries will come.

A lot of things are happening for us down the right side, so hopefully Keith and I can start evening things up on the left.

It’s on to Widnes tomorrow night, where I played for St Helens many times after they spent the 2011 season there.

They’ve since had the i-pitch installed and I think the surface is a bit of a joke really. You get a lot of burns and scars from that pitch but it’s one of those things we have to deal with.

Franny has drilled it into us that there are no excuses and that’s the mindset we’ll be taking into the game.
