Halifax have signed Bradford Bulls target Scott Murrell on a two-year deal.

Murrell, a 27-year-old who began his career with Leeds Rhinos, has spent the last seven years at Hull KR.

Primarily a stand-off, Murrell has also played hooker, loose forward and second row in Super League.

“I think Scott’s been a bit unlucky with Rovers; he was offered a new deal but their budgets changed and he ended up missing out,” said Halifax coach Karl Harrison.

“He’s been a rock for their team over the last seven years and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to sign him."

Added the former Bulls assistant coach and Cougars coach: “Bradford were interested, Castleford were interested, but we’ve managed to persuade him to choose us, which is very pleasing.”

Surely Halifax cant pay what we could ? Was there a genuine offer on the table or was it that poor Halifax beat it ?

I was hoping for the announcement of players to be signed up after the "big" one yesterday.

looks like he got too fat to play stand off so has been stuck in the forwards. Think he's found a level that will suit his 'lifestyle'. If he's not good enough for HKR then dont think we need him.

I think most Bulls Fans breathed a sigh of relief! Thank you Rhino for helping out your old Club in its hour of need! We may be desperate but surely not that desperate!

It's not necessarily all about money and the Bateman deal has probably just proved that

I wouldn`t have minded signing Scott but to look at him now seeing as we need prop forwards he could fill in there, he looks like the old ball playing prop we had in the sixties Peter Goddard!
