    I have said it many times, Guilfoyle has failed in his role as administrator, almost to the point of incompetence. Would be interesting to see the notes / correspondence file in his office on this one.

    Hopefully SLE will now be able to broker a deal with an investor to takeover and restructure the Bulls within there means."

Bradford Bulls fans thank 'rugby league family'

Fans of crisis-hit Bradford Bulls spoke of their relief last night after the Super League revealed its bid to rescue the club from the liquidation.

Supporters hailed the “rugby league family” for rallying together to save the stricken side, which had stood on the brink of collapse before yesterday’s announcement.

Claire Butterfield, one of the organisers of a series of fans’ crisis meetings, said: “I think it’s fantastic for the rugby league community to do this for us and an amazing show of community spirit.

“It’s what sets rugby league apart. You’d never see this sort of thing happening in other sports.

“All we want to do is save the club. Even if it means playing in the Championship, I’m not bothered so long as there’s still a club.

“Obviously we’d all prefer if it was in the Super League, but we’ll still turn out every week and cheer on our team.”

Other fans, who gathered outside Odsal Stadium last night, said they hoped the club’s future in the top flight could still be secured.

Supporter Karl Kittsen said: “It’s a positive step in the right direction and a big weight off our minds.

“I think it sends a clear message out to potential buyers that Super League clubs want to save this club, which is steeped in history and is a famous rugby league brand.

“The one thing that is not clear is if we will stay in the Super League, but fans’ groups are already talking to the RFL about what we can do as supporters and how we can help the situation.

“What this gives us is more time to try and put something in place to secure a future for Bradford Bulls.”

Fan Tony Tudor added: “The rugby league community has been fantastic and we’ve had so much support from all over the league.

“I’ve met fans at games and not one of them has said they want rid of us.

“What we need now is for fans to come to the next three home games, bring their friends and family, buy any merchandise that’s left and show their support for the club.”
