Bradford Bulls: Michael Platt will not rest on laurels after London Broncos heroics
7:50am Tuesday 8th May 2012 in Bulls
By Ross Heppenstall, Bradford Bulls Reporter
Michael Platt knows one bad game and he could be out of the starting line-up
Michael Platt believes the increased competition for places at Odsal will keep him on his toes after his stunning four-try haul against London.
The Bulls centre returned to the side against the Broncos and rewarded Mick Potter’s faith in him by claiming four clinical finishes in the 29-22 success.
But, with Chev Walker now fit again and Adrian Purtell potentially available for next week’s trip to Salford, Platt knows he has to keep performing to stay in the side.
He said: “Anyone who scores four tries is going to be happy.
“My team-mates really helped me out and I didn’t have a lot to do with some of those tries.
“I must thank them but I was dropped last week at Warrington and I realise that competition is intense.
“Chev Walker is pushing for selection and Adrian Purtell has to come back from injury.
“But we’re a team and the more quality players we have the better results we’re going to get.
“You know you have to play well to keep your place in the side or even get in the side.
“It’s tough at the moment, as I found out last week.”
Platt has impressed when called on this season and said the spirited comeback win at Leyton Orient underlined the belief in the squad.
He added: “I was confident we could come back and win the game, even after conceding those three tries.
“London played well and were perhaps unfortunate with some of the referee’s calls, but that’s not for us to worry about.
“We took our opportunities when they came, got the two points, and we’re happy with that.”

Important game for us against Salford next - as they will be looking to get back to winning ways.
That said May will be I expect a very significant one for the future of the club, as the £500K must now be well over due to keep the club going - particularly as we will not have another home game until June.

Obviously there’s always room for improvement, but he’s a good player to have in the squad.
.
On a separate note, I wonder how many matches the RFL will slap on Carl Ablett after he was clearly shown attempting to Gouge Sam Moa on Sky on Saturday? I suspect if it was a Bulls player it’s be 5 matches, but as it’s Leeds I doubt he’ll even be charged!

Platts main problem has never been ability, it's that he created a stigma for himself buy coming up with a few howlers when he played full back. I'm still waiting for ITS explanation on 'the cut' ? maybe IT thinks that when the clubs play 18 rounds, any club below par drops down to the Blue Triangle League and has to sell its 'putter'.
.
What a ignoramus, if he was any more stupid he'd have to be watered twice a week!

Nice that you are all slagging off Ablett. Thank god there are some reasonable people at Red Hall, it would have been a travesty if a ban had been handed out.

.
If it was the other way round Leeds fans would have been calling for a ban and more.
