Danny Brough puts Bradford Bulls to sword

Bradford Bulls 6 Huddersfield 20

Two pieces of individual brilliance in the first half gave Huddersfield a hard-fought victory over the injury-hit Bulls at a rain-soaked Odsal this afternoon.

In the 15th minute, Giants playmaker Danny Brough showed brilliant skill to glide past several Bradford defenders and flight a kick into the right corner, where Jermain McGillvary arrived to touch down.

The Bulls, who matched Huddersfield up front, claimed a try on their own in the 36th minute when Michael Platt touched down in the right corner.

Yet shortly before the break, Giants winger Luke George embarked on a searing run from inside his own half, outstripping a clutch of Bulls players to race over the line.

Two penalties from Brough gave the visitors further breathing space in the second half and not even the sinbinning of Huddersfield forward Luke O'Donnell could open the door for Bradford.

The Giants confirmed victory with four minutes remaining when Luke Robinson's pass sent Brough over from close range and tryscorer added the extras.

The result allowed Nathan Brown's men to avenge their 36-0 drubbing at Odsal last season, and ended a run of three successive wins for the Bulls.

Anyone know what the attendance was as this is the last home game for a month. That means the gate money has to pay the wages for a month unless the next £500,000 is raised. :(

I stand corrected :), but they will count all season ticket holders in that figure so doubt it raised that much cash.

11182 and I think about 1182 of them were human beings...
The game was a farce with the kits.

All players looked the same after around 30 minutes - one of the giants tries i thought we had a defender to make the tackle until it turned out it was an attacker!!

Fact is that Huddersfield played the conditions better today. Still feel we put in a good shift, when you think we had no Kearney, L'Estrange or Sammut who have been key players this season.

Bateman proved he was human today by making a few errors. Seemed much more comfortable when Addy was on the pitch who I feel should have got MOM.

I will be travelling to the HJ Stadium next week with a good level of positive optimism...

They're very badly supported for a top team and always seem to have been. Having said that where I was stood there were quite a few shouting and swearing including the kids! An elderly Fartown fan who was stood next to me actually apologised for their behaviour. I don't think any Bulls fans expected to win today, especially with all our injury woes, but it was a steady performance. It could have been a hammering....

So not looking good. :(

I can not believe a season can be arranged where there are no home games for so long. What was wrong with it going home-away-home-away etc.

Play in a Football Stadium, No away support, Get top marks for license renewal. No wonder the RFL needs a clearout.
Add to that a fixture list for the Bulls that take no account of cash flow and you wonder why the game is in crisis.

Too many errors and very poor last tackle plays. Why on earth was Jeffries standing so flat on just about every last tackle on our ball? Made it impossible to put pressure on or put a decent kick in!
On a positive note, I thought we were very aggressive and were beaten by broughs superior kicking game!
Still good signs and still some good players to come back!

Thought the difference today was Danny Brough and the referee LOL. Our defence was great really when you consider how much possesion Giants had in our quarter and how little we had in theirs. Brough`s kicking game was exemplary and pinned us back time after time. So we can at least take that as a positive and with influential players to return next week we should be in with a shout at least.

A very fine effort all things considered. Brough killed us in the 2nd half - but we shouldn't have let them score such tries in the first half. Nevertheless a great effort form us with all the injuries.

I said at the game that if Brough was our half back today we would have won. We muscled up very well against a big Giants pack and stayed in the arm wrestle pretty well. The kicking game killed us and our last play options were very poor..... maybe the return of Gale will assist that element of our game for next week.

BROUGH'S KICKING KILLED US our forwards were smashing the giants but brough just kicked us to death i agree with the barbarian mick Jeffries couldn't get a proper kick away because he was to flat. As for the ref terry albert he was useless he was like an extra man for the giants.
Credit to our players we made them look average and not the top of the table great defence for most of the game from our boys cant wait til potter's got some options in the team. think scrutton's gunna find it hard to get back in squad way the forwards are playing...
