Bradford Bulls 6 Huddersfield 20

Two pieces of individual brilliance in the first half gave Huddersfield a hard-fought victory over the injury-hit Bulls at a rain-soaked Odsal this afternoon.

In the 15th minute, Giants playmaker Danny Brough showed brilliant skill to glide past several Bradford defenders and flight a kick into the right corner, where Jermain McGillvary arrived to touch down.

The Bulls, who matched Huddersfield up front, claimed a try on their own in the 36th minute when Michael Platt touched down in the right corner.

Yet shortly before the break, Giants winger Luke George embarked on a searing run from inside his own half, outstripping a clutch of Bulls players to race over the line.

Two penalties from Brough gave the visitors further breathing space in the second half and not even the sinbinning of Huddersfield forward Luke O'Donnell could open the door for Bradford.

The Giants confirmed victory with four minutes remaining when Luke Robinson's pass sent Brough over from close range and tryscorer added the extras.

The result allowed Nathan Brown's men to avenge their 36-0 drubbing at Odsal last season, and ended a run of three successive wins for the Bulls.
