Bradford Bulls: Jamie Langley ready to go head to head with Dragons

Jamie Langley is confident of being passed fit for this weekend’s Super League opener against Catalan Dragons after being KO’d by Lee Radford on Sunday.

The former Bulls team-mates clashed heads during the early exchanges of Radford’s testimonial at the KC Stadium, which Hull won 46-6.

Langley came off considerably worse from the collision but, aside from a few stitches to his face, there was no major damage.

The loose forward said: “I think I must have been out for a few seconds but once I hit the deck I came round.

“I had a few stitches to add to the collection but apart from that everything is okay.

“Radders and I had a laugh about it afterwards.

“That was his last-ever game of rugby league and I saw him in the stitching room after the game.

“It was just unfortunate how it happened. I got square on with him, there was a clash of heads, but these things happen in rugby league.”

Langley is relishing this Sunday’s visit of Catalan, who will have former Bradford favourite Leon Pryce in their ranks.

And he is confident there will nothing to stop him featuring against the highly-fancied French outfit.

Langley added: “Generally the case is that if you suffer concussion then you have to do a head test.

“But, because I didn’t suffer concussion or memory loss – and I was fully conscious for all bar a few seconds after the collision – I shouldn’t have to do one. I should be fine.”

However, young hooker Adam O’Brien will definitely miss Sunday’s opener after picking up an ankle injury at Hull.

Matt Diskin is nursing a calf problem but is hopeful of being passed fit.

Good news. We nerd Langley on squad for his tackling. One of our best defenders IMO.

We need this lad on deck with the back rowers n Pops we have unavalible. His workrate and talking in defence will be vital to the result come 5pm Sunday.

Anyone know if Phil Joseph is getting a contract?

Well we defo need Langers work rate, if you believe the league expresses predictions for the season. Bulls to finish 10th, because of the loss of Lynchys work rate. But they also think Warrington will finish in 4th below leeds in 3rd.

I think Joseph has been offered a pay as you play deal. - Very interesting to see that not one club wanted to take Platt or Sykes when they were offered around. Cant blame the lads for staying put if there was no deal from anyone else. Doesnt look good for when the contracts are up for them.

other clubs would probably have taken them but not on anything like the same terms as we have them on, so they will stay put for the extra wages then go for reduced terms when their contracts are up. Dont blame them really, why take a pay cut untill have to ?

Looking at the weather forecast it looks like the first game of the season is more likely to be Cas away. Well at least that may help the injury situation.

Ganson = a good fast game, not afraid to make the big calls.
Bentham = slow play the balls, and boring games.
Child = just blows penalties all day.
Alibert = Not a bad ref and lets a game flow
Silverwood = Players hate him, arrogant, doesnt let a game flow and controversial. Thinks he's cummins in disguise.
Ben Thaler = gets calls wrong and misses things but does let the game flow
Robert Hicks = seems to be ok at the minute.
J Cobb = never heard of him
G Donlan = Never heard of him
D Crashley = Never heard of him
D Sharpe = Never heard of him
Have i missed any one??

Good news to see that Langley's fit because of his tackling and his enthusiasm.

I too hope that Jamie Langley is fit for Sunday, but why should the defence be reliant on one player being on the field.Under two different coaches and with different players, defence has been a problem at Odsal,to progress this side of their play needs to be addressed.I dont know what the answer is but lets hope this can be eradicated soon.Just a word on the Hull game, yes we were poor but talking to some Hull supporters during and after the game, they said their team was almost as bad the week before against Hull KR.A good point made by supporters of both sides was that the class of the opponents in the previous games was quite different so in this game Hull were probabley more up to speed than we were. This is not an excuse for what was a poor performance but could have been a factor in the difference between the teams on the day.Lets all hope that the coaching staff and the players can get it right this week against Catalan.

Surely the undersoil heating will take care of the pitch and the covered terraces will take care of the spectators?

Been following Bulls for years Jamie Langley is as consistent as you can get. yet I am confused why after over 10 years of commitment to the Bulls why the Oz Manager gave a fellow Oz Player the Cap? whats; is face Heath La Strange :) Potter then try to cover this favouritism by letting Diskin an other Player share the Cap.
During Press day, it was hard to see where Potter ended and La Strange ;) began, I wanted to ask Heath what was the brown stuff on his nose.
Somethings smells hear.. Potter may have experience as a Manager, but I have been observing this chappy and his ability to Coach the much loved Bulls since I moved back to Leeds Potter Management style is equivalent to watching PAINT DRY.
How can the players be motivated when his management style is almost non existent. This chappy shows no connection to the Players.
Lets hope this is a better season and the Squad is motivated to play hard and win for themselves and us the fans
