Giant Aussie Adrian Purtell is ready to stamp his mark on Super League.

The Penrith Panthers three-quarter today pledged his prime years to the Bulls, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.

At 6ft 4in and 16 stone, he certainly won’t go unnoticed in his new surroundings. And Purtell hopes that giant frame will be ideally suited to the physical nature of northern hemisphere rugby league.

“I’m at a point now where I’m looking for a new challenge and a new experience and this is the biggest challenge I could have taken on,” said the 27-year-old, who will join Bradford at the end of the current NRL season.

“Everyone’s got their own strengths and weaknesses and my strengths are definitely my height and size, so I have to make use of them.

“I’m not as quick or as nimble as some of the other outside backs but I’m a strong-running player.”

Purtell scored 30 tries in 64 games for Canberra Raiders before joining Penrith ahead of the 2010 season and has been a virtual ever-present since.
