JOHN Kear admits the Bulls are up against Super League’s hottest side in the Challenge Cup fifth round tomorrow.

Opponents Warrington have won six on the bounce since their last defeat against leaders St Helens on March 9.

Kear is encouraging his players to relish the occasion at the Halliwell Jones Stadium but appreciates the size of the task facing them.

He said: “You don’t get many opportunities like this.

“As a League One club, which we are at the minute, we’re going to be playing against the third best side in Super League.

“They are also probably the form side in Super League because they have won six on the bounce.

“Defensively, I think Steve Price has done a great job there. They are very difficult to break down.

“Obviously with ball in hand, they are a bit like us waiting for the drier grounds.

“They have got some excitement machines there, none more so than Kevin Brown who looks to be hitting his straps.”

Full back Gregg McNally had hoped to be involved after being sidelined since the win over Hunslet in the last round with a quad injury.

But Kear decided against taking a risk to make sure he is fine for next weekend’s table-topping showdown at Doncaster.

He said: “It would be pushing our luck a little to try to get Gregg out there this week.

“Warrington is a big game but Doncaster is equally big – if not more so.

“We’ve got to make sure we attack both games with a good team. But the team have got to be 100 per cent fit.

“If Gregg played this week, I think he’d only be 85-90 per cent with the possibility of doing some longer-term damage. So, we decided to sit him down.”

The Bulls are also without Dane Chisholm, who is suspended following a dangerous tackle in the league loss at Workington.

Kear added: “It’s another man’s opportunity, that’s how I’m viewing it.

“I know there is an air of excitement in the camp and the players who are fit are very keen to pull on a shirt and show their wares.

“It’s a game of rugby league. Very rarely do you get your best 17 available and you’ve just got to put the strongest team out you can and trust they will do a good job.

“I’m very trusting in the squad that we’ve got.”
