BULLS captain Lee Smith spoke of his disappointment after Bradford Bulls' first loss of the 2018 season, yet insists the side will bounce back.

A busy Easter schedule saw many first team players ruled out of the match, including Gregg McNally, Ashley Gibson and the skipper himself.

However, Smith suggested that the club has enough talent to cope, were simply not good enough on the day, and will need to up their game ahead of next weekend’s fixture.

“Obviously it’s disappointing to lose, as it always is, regardless of any unbeaten streak. I’ve spoken to a few of the lads this week; we all feel the disappointment,” said Smith

“Errors and ill-discipline are no good in any game. They give your opposition a chance in any game and Workington are a quality side so to give them that advantage was poor from us.”

“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you get beaten by one point or 30 it’s still a defeat.

"It’s more disappointing that we were leading with only a few minutes to go and we need to learn how to close these games out.”

“We won’t be making any excuses for the result, we need to be looking at ourselves and how we can learn from this, fix the problems and move on.”

“We knew Workington could turn us over if we didn’t perform and credit to them; they are a top side and came out with the win.”

The Bulls will look to get back on track in the league this week as they face the Coventry Bears at Odsal.

The game acts as a double-headed fixture as the Bradford Bull’s Women’s team start their defence of the Super League title against newly-formed Leeds Rhinos.

Smith hopes the Bulls faithful can come out in force for both games and make a real atmosphere throughout the day.

“We’ll be looking to put a few things right this weekend, perform how we know we can but most importantly get back to winning ways,” said Smith

“Every side in this competition are capable of turning up on the day and earning the two points, Coventry will be no different, and we need to pick up our game.”

“We are playing Warrington the week after, so it’s important we go into that game with some confidence, but with respect to Coventry our minds are fully focused on this Sunday.”

“With the women’s team playing on the same day it makes for a great day of rugby league, hopefully, both sides can put on a performance and give the fans something to sing about.”

“Last season the women’s team really helped the club, times were tough for us in the men’s team, they were a real shining light, winning trophies and making history.”

“It’s great to see the women’s game growing and for Bradford to be at the top of that, hopefully, we can be side by side near the top of the league in the future.”
