THE Bulls will play next season in League One, the RFL have confirmed.

League chief operating officer Ralph Rimmer last night shot down the ongoing rumours that the club might still be spared relegation by any restructure.

“I’ve been fairly consistent on this – they will play in League One next year,” he said, ahead of the fans’ forum at Odsal.

“I would expect them to play in League One and have a pretty full fixture list to use as a springboard going forward.”

Joint owner Andrew Chalmers insisted the hectic recruitment programme was focused on winning instant promotion – and going unbeaten.

But there will be no decision on coach Geoff Toovey’s future until next month.

Chalmers said: “What we’ve agreed with Geoff is that he’s having his scheduled break in Sydney.

“We’ll sit down and talk with him when he’s back, which is the first week of November.

“That coincides with the commencement of our pre-season so we’ve said we’ll give him some time to think about it. A decision will be indicated shortly after he gets back.”

Chalmers insisted Toovey has been involved in the recruitment talks. By the end of the weekend, two-thirds of the squad will be in place.

Chalmers added: “As I’ve said before, based on where we finished in the table, we are planning on League One.

“Everything is geared towards that in regards to the structures and so on, including player recruitment.

“We’re at 18 players and we’re working towards a total roster of 30. We’re well into that process and there will be two more announcements by the weekend.”

A new hybrid squad has been created – so far six of the 18 are full-time.

Rimmer also paid tribute to Chalmers’ efforts in front of around 350 supporters.

He said: “Andrew has mentioned some of the pressures he’s had this year that none of us could have foreseen.

“All the things you’ve seen can be multiplied by ten, in terms of the obstacles he’s managed to traverse. Andrew has shown his commitment and weathered a storm which I don’t think he was bargaining for.”
