BULLS co-owner Andrew Chalmers hailed the achievements of the club's all-conquering women's team as they were feted by the Lord Mayor of Bradford at a civic reception.

The players were welcomed by Councillor Abid Hussain at City Hall to celebrate going through the season unbeaten while completing the league and cup double.

The perfect campaign has also been recognised by England as ten Bulls players were selected in a 23-strong squad to compete in the World Cup next month.

Chalmers attended the civic reception alongside the team and said: "They have been outstanding this year. How they conduct themselves both on and off the field is remarkable.

"Going through the season unbeaten is one thing but to win both the Super League Grand Final as well as the Challenge Cup is on another level of greatness.

"Everyone in Bradford is extremely proud of what they have achieved this year. They have done our great city proud."

Councillor Hussain added: "I hope their achievements will inspire others to take up this great sport."

The Bulls are staging their own celebration on Saturday during a recognition dinner at Odsal, with club legend Leon Pryce hosting the evening from 7pm.

Women's head coach Mark Prescott will be in attendance as awards are handed out to star players.
