BULLS are in talks with Maltese forward Jon Magrin.

But reports that a new deal is already in place have been described as “very premature”.

The club have so far announced 16 players for next season as they prepare for life in League One.

It is understood that Magrin is discussing the chance of staying for 2018 after plenty of game-time in his first season at Odsal but it has gone no further than that at this stage.

Magrin, who turns 23 on Sunday, signed for the Bulls last year after playing 60 games for London Broncos.

He made 25 appearances during their Championship relegation campaign and scored two tries in the 56-18 win over Dewsbury in March.

Joint-owner Andrew Chalmers has returned to Odsal following a short break in New Zealand as recruitment plans continue.

Fellow forwards Ross Peltier and Liam Kirk have already signed new contracts but Colton Roche is heading for Super League to join Huddersfield Giants.

And hopes of retaining Australian Damian Sironen look increasingly unlikely.

Sironen was a big hit with Bulls fans after signing on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

His form, not surprisingly, has attracted interest from higher clubs and he is being tracked by Hull KR and London Broncos. If Sironen does opt to return to the English game next season, it is hard to see him wanting to do that in the third tier.

After breaking his jaw in the final game against Rochdale, he is currently back in Australia where he is due to get married.
