THREE former Bulls players were given outstanding achievement awards at the end of season Man of Steel dinner in Manchester.

Leon Pryce, Andy Lynch and Chris Bridge were among several players to be honoured who are retiring this year.

Pryce opted to hang his boots up midway through this season after a knee injury took its toll, the Bradford-born half-back having returned to Odsal to see out his career after a glittering first spell with Bulls was followed by successful times at St Helens, Catalans Dragons and Hull.

Lynch is hoping to bow out in style with Castleford in the Grand Final on Saturday, having joined an elite group this campaign. The prop became only the seventh player in the Super League era to reach 500 club appearances, joining Pryce, Kevin Sinfield and Jamie Peacock among others.

Bridge started his career at Bulls but enjoyed the majority of his long career with Warrington before moving to Widnes.

Others retirees to receive awards were Thomas Bosc (Catalans Dragons), Rob Burrow (Leeds), Eorl Crabtree (Huddersfield), Gareth Ellis (Hull) and Iafeta Palea'aesina (Hull).

Castleford scrum-half Luke Gale won the prestigious Steve Prescott Super League Man of Steel award for 2017 ahead of his Tigers team-mate Zak Hardaker, with Hull stand-off Albert Kelly third.

Castleford's Daryl Powell was named coach of the year and Wigan centre Oliver Gildart was revealed as the young player of the year.
