GEOFF Toovey is relieved to be facing Toulouse at Odsal in the Bottom Eights after the French lesson the Bulls suffered earlier in the season.

Toovey's side will start the supplementary competition at home to Olympique on Sunday, August 6.

They will not find out the rest of the fixtures until Monday but the Bulls know they host Batley and Oldham as well as Toulouse.

Taking on Sylvain Houles' men in West Yorkshire rather than having to trek to the south of France is the big bonus for Toovey.

The Bulls have already beaten Toulouse 29-22 in round four at Odsal but were walloped 60-4 in the return game two months later.

Toovey said: "I'm surprised the fixtures aren't done yet. I didn't think it would be that complicated and I'm not sure what's holding it up.

"But we've not got Toulouse away, which is good. We beat them over here and they smacked our pants over in France, so that's a bit of a boost.

"They are a much better side at home than they are away."

Toulouse lost to five of the bottom six teams in England during the regular Championship season but only Halifax and London beat them on home soil.

Bulls coach Toovey said: "I was very surprised at some of their losses in recent times.

"But saying that, you lose one or two players at this level from your team and you can go from being top of the table to being beaten by the bottom.

"It's a competition where a couple of players can make a difference to the side. Toulouse are one of those teams missing one or two key players and that's cost them as well."

Meanwhile, Johnny Campbell has been charged with a grade C dangerous throw after his contentious red card against Swinton. Toovey has been in contact with the Rugby Football League this week to air his frustration.

He said: "I've let the referees department know my thoughts on the game. It is very inconsistent.

"I actually thought the tackle was worse live than I did once I saw it after the game had finished. It was softer than I thought.

"It's a tough job in the middle but all we want is some consistency. That's been a difficult thing the majority of the year.

"That tends to happen more when you're at the end of the ladder."
