QUICK healer Ross Peltier has handed the Bulls a much-needed selection boost.

The popular forward is back in the ranks for Sunday’s crucial Odsal showdown with fellow strugglers Swinton.

He has returned just three weeks after suffering what looked to be a serious ankle injury against Halifax.

It represents a timely lift for Geoff Toovey after losing Leeds duo Mikolaj Oledzki and Cameron Smith from his pack options.

“It’s a lot earlier than I thought,” said Peltier. “I had a few days off when I didn’t do anything on it but iced it and the ankle reacted well.

“I had some tests on it on Wednesday and Thursday and I’m good to go now.

“I do seem to recover much faster than others – perhaps that’s because I don’t do much at home!

“That’s probably helped to be fair because I’ve not been on it much.

“I got injured earlier in the season with my hand and then to get this was annoying. But I’ve tried my hardest to get back as quick as I can.

“It’s not like I’m rushing it. It was weird how I got the injury but it’s not like it’s a recurring thing and I feel fine.”

Peltier will beef up the forwards for the physical battle they can expect against the side immediately above them at the foot of the Championship.

It will also be his first chance to play alongside Aussie Damian Sironen who has already created a big impression from his opening couple of appearances.

Peltier added: “He’s looked very good. If you push with him, he’ll get the ball out and help you out a lot.

“He brings a lot to the team and hopefully him and I can be a good addition.

“It’s sad to lose Mik because he offers a lot to us but I guess it’s helped with me coming back.

“It’s another big game but it’s like that every week for us. Every game is a must-win.

“We were disappointed to lose how we did against Batley but hopefully I can come in and help us to get that victory.

“We always seem to play a bit better at Odsal. We just need to keep hold of the ball.

“Swinton will try to go toe-to-toe but hopefully we can equal them in that department.

“We’ve still got Jon Magrin, Damo, Kirky (Liam Kirk), myself coming back and Omari (Caro) will help fill in the pack. We’ve got size there and should be fine.”

Peltier is well aware of the danger of facing a side playing their first game under a new coach. He knows Swinton will be keen to impress Stuart Littler.

“It can go one of two ways as we know ourselves,” he said.

“It can either be detrimental to the team or it can galvanise them.

“We’ve got to be ready for whatever mood they are in and be prepared for it.”

Brandon Pickersgill is expected to make his third appearance for the Bulls this season, at full back, while Brandan Wilkinson is back in the squad after a successful return to the under-19s.
