MIKOLAJ Oledzki is watching Jordan Lilley’s rise at Leeds Rhinos with mixed feelings.

The Bulls may have seen the last of half back Lilley after his impressive return to Headingley last week.

Like Lilley, close pal Oledzki has been making an impact on loan from the Rhinos.

And the Polish-born forward can understand why the young playmaker may have played his last game at Odsal after signing a three-year deal with Leeds this week.

Oledzki said: “I’d love for Jordan to still be here at the Bulls because he’s a great player.

“But I’m over the moon for him because he’s a good mate and it’s good to see him absolutely smashing it in Super League.

“It makes everyone happy to see a young player to be successful. It’s good for the game to see a 20-year-old doing well like that.

“He was the difference at Bradford every week with his kicking game, his passing and his vision. It gave the team a boost.”

Oledzki’s power has been another welcome addition in a tough season for Geoff Toovey’s side. He feels his own game has come on leaps and bounds in the uncompromising Championship environment.

“As a young player, all I want to do is play regular football,” he added. “Whether it’s academy, Championship or Super League, that’s not important.

“I couldn’t ask for a better chance than playing regularly in the Championship for Bradford and I’m so grateful for what the coaches have done for me at Leeds and here.

“Geoff Toovey and Leigh Beattie have been really good helping me develop as a player and I appreciate that. I think I’m getting better.”

With Ross Peltier facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Damian Sironen’s arrival in the forwards has come at a good time. Oledzki is looking forward to seeing the Aussie at close quarters against Hull KR.

Oledzki said: “It’s always good to get a bit of fresh blood in the team and he’s a really good player.

“He’s a very skilful forward. He doesn’t just get the ball and run forward, he can pass and has got good footwork.

“I can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to the pack.

“We’ve got Cory Aston coming in as well so it freshens up the environment. It’s good to see how it can change and how we can improve as a team.

“It’s a good challenge for us against the leaders and I hope nobody is writing us off.

“We proved at the Summer Bash that we can give them a good game if we do turn up and play our best.

“No team is unbeatable. If we have the attitude that we can win this, as we did when we played against them last time, we’ll have a good crack at it.”
