THE Bulls insist no deal has yet been done with Australian centre Willie Tonga.

Following the 33-year-old's Leigh exit, Bradford have been heavily linked with a move for the former Catalans Dragons man.

However, the T&A understands that nothing has yet been agreed with the player, who is still recovering from a bicep injury and would require a visa.

And that almost certainly rules Tonga out of making an appearance in Sunday's crunch Kingstone Press Championship clash at Halifax.

Bulls head coach Geoff Toovey has made no secret of his hunt for playing reinforcements – confirming earlier this month that the club is tracking 'one or two' Australian additions to boost their survival bid.

"Our search does include Australia but they're in the midst of a season as well, so obviously they need their players," Toovey said at the time.

"But you can always pick up the odd one or two that have slipped through the cracks and that's what we'll be aiming to do.

"Bringing those reinforcements in would definitely boost our hopes of survival, but hopefully we can win a few more games before that happens and give ourselves a chance."

Following 13 years in the NRL – and his spell in France – former Aussie international Tonga joined the Centurions ahead of the 2016 season. However, injuries limited him to only nine appearances for the club.

Upon his release, Leigh owner Derek Beaumont said: “Willie is a consummate professional and completely dedicated to what he does.

"Without question, when he has taken to the field he has produced outstanding performances on every occasion."
