BRANDON Pickersgill is determined to hold onto his Bulls shirt for Sunday's clash at Sheffield Eagles.

The youngster became the latest Under-19 to step up to the senior team on Saturday, making his debut in the 60-4 defeat in Toulouse.

And despite that baptism of fire in southern France, Pickersgill enjoyed his first outing for his home-town club – and is thirsty for more this weekend.

“That’s the aim for me now, I want a regular spot in the team," he said. "It’s good going out on loan and getting experience but I want to be here playing for Bradford.

“It was Thursday that I got named in the 18. Originally I was 18th man, but then I found out that I was going to be on the bench, so I was pretty excited.

“As a Bradford lad, it meant a lot to make my debut for the Bulls. I’ve played rugby all my life and although I’ve been out on loan at London Skolars, I just want to play for Bradford.

“Before going to Skolars I’d never really played against grown men, so it was good to get some experience – physicality-wise, getting smashed about a bit. That’s part of the learning experience and has stood me in good stead."

The Bulls' hopes of returning to winning ways in this Sunday's Championship encounter at Sheffield were dealt a blow yesterday with the news that Kevin Larroyer has been recalled from his loan spell by Castleford Tigers.

However, loan arrivals are expected at Odsal this week, and Pickersgill insists the squad are ready to bounce back.

“We know what we’ve got to put right," he said. "We’ve got some massive games coming up and we need to get some points on the board.

“Sheffield is one we need to win, so hopefully we can put last weekend behind us, fix what went wrong and go again."
