ETHAN Ryan has challenged his Bulls team-mates to move on from Good Friday’s failure and zero in on an Easter Monday upset.

On paper, Halifax at home was their best chance to break even in the points column over the holiday period but now they must do it the hard way at high-flying Featherstone today.

Rovers remain on course for a top-four finish despite a 30-22 defeat to runaway leaders Hull KR three days ago.

The third-placed side have already beaten Bulls in the Challenge Cup this season. And it will be the first visit back to The Big Fellas Stadium since that fateful match when Bradford’s hopes of reaching the top four died with a whimper last campaign.

Ryan, who was part of Rohan Smith’s team that lost 20-0 last July, said: “To lose to Halifax was quite gutting and we could have been on zero but we have got to bounce back at Featherstone.

“That is going to be another tough game but we need to get to zero and push on and forget about the Halifax defeat.”

Having seemingly kicked their habit of making too many errors when they demolished Sheffield just over a week ago, the Bulls relapsed in a display littered with mistakes in the Halifax loss.

Ryan admitted: “We can’t blame anyone else but ourselves – there were too many errors which is really familiar for us.

“I thought we’d kick on after last week against Sheffield when the errors were down. But we went back to the same old issues – giving penalty after penalty away on the fifth and last (tackle) or dropping the ball. We know we should be better and we know need to be better.

“It hurts to lose especially when we know we can win games like that – which we need to do to get up the table.”

Bulls’ inability to achieve consistency remains understandable given the constraints they have been working under, with loan players not always being available.

The Easter period is a prime example, Jordan Lilley (Leeds) and Daniel Murray (Salford) missing Good Friday's match after being recalled and likely to miss today's clash, though Bulls have left a spot in their 19-man squad free in case one becomes free.

Ryan, who took his tally to nine tries for the season with a late consolation against Halifax, acknowledged it is a factor, while at the same time not wanting to use it as an excuse.

He said: “Squad rotation has quite a lot to do with it (being inconsistent). Given the circumstances we are in, we’ve had quite a lot of loan players in. On Friday we didn’t have them, so everyone is moving around a bit.

“But we can’t blame that. We all train together and we all know what we all play like.”

Featherstone are expecting a bumper crowd today which will be swelled by Bulls’ loyal faithful.

The Odsal gate against Halifax was close to topping 5,000 and might have been bigger but for the huge downpour an hour or so before the game.

Ryan said: “Seeing a big crowd out there was ace. They get us through it each week and they never shut up, which is good.”
