BULLS acting coach Leigh Beattie says the club are actively looking to strengthen in the transfer market.

Bradford have won four of their last five games but there have been calls for owners Andrew Chalmers and Graham Lowe to invest in new additions to the squad.

Former Hunslet Hawks forward James Davies arrived on trial this week but there is still no sign of Samoan rugby union sevens player Phoenix Hunapo-Nofoa, who reportedly signed a 12-month deal, while Polish prop Mikolaj Oledzki has been recalled by parent club Leeds Rhinos.

Davies, who also played in Australia for Blacktown Rovers and Penrith Panthers under-20s, is not in the squad for Sunday's trip to Oldham.

Beattie is now in his third month as 'acting' first-team coach and there has been no conclusion to the on-going saga surrounding the employment of Geoff Toovey.

If all goes to plan, this weekend's game will be the last before Australian coach Toovey is allowed to officially take control.

The Bulls, meanwhile, continue to rely on loan signings and youngsters to underpin the club's bid for on-field survival.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's trip to Bower Fold, Beattie confirmed that the club had not ruled out more new signings.

Yet he feels many rival clubs will be unwilling to release players because of the forthcoming Easter programme, which brings three games in the space of eight days.

Beattie said: "We are always looking to strengthen and we will keep on looking. But obviously it's coming up to the Easter period, so things are going to be hard.

"Clubs are not letting players go out on loan or they are keeping things tight with that period coming up."

Commenting on the possibility of 23-year-old Davies joining the club, Beattie added: "He won't play this week but we will have a good look at him. He's just come back from Australia and he's having a trial for a month.

"He has kept himself pretty fit, so we will give him a run in training and see what he's like. If he's up to it, he might get a chance. Time will tell."

Captain Leon Pryce is again ruled out this weekend due to a knee problem but second-rower James Bentley is back in the squad after recovering from the concussion suffered against Featherstone Rovers in the Challenge Cup.
