OMARI Caro is willing to play in any position to hold down a regular starting role for the Bulls.

The Jamaican international winger looks set to start in the second row against Oldham tomorrow after impressing in the role as an interchange against Dewsbury Rams last weekend.

Caro, not surprisingly, has been in pain this week after making his first competitive appearance since the final game of last season against Featherstone Rovers on July 24.

He had damaged ankle ligaments in a pre-season friendly against Huddersfield Giants and missed the the first seven games of the season.

He said: "It was good to finally get back because it had been a really long time. I enjoyed it but I still can't walk properly and have been feeling a bit sore."

Caro revealed that the switch to second row had been mentioned just days before the Dewsbury game amid the absence of several players including James Bentley, Ross Peltier, James Mendeika, Leon Pryce and Oscar Thomas.

He explained: "The coach gave me a call in the week saying he wanted me to play but would I be happy to play in the forwards because there were a lot of injuries and we are blessed with a lot of outside backs? I hadn't played for a while, so I was more than happy to play there."

Caro scored 18 tries in as many appearances for the Bulls last season and capped his return to action with a try against Dewsbury as Bradford stormed back from 18-12 down to win 56-18.

Reflecting on his own performance, he said: "I am not the finished article but I enjoyed being out there in front of the fans.

"There is a lot more contact (in the second row) and a lot more thinking involved about getting forward and back. On the wing, you can just see the game and react to stuff."

Caro was removed from the action towards the end of the Odsal contest but confirmed that this was only a precautionary measure.

He said: "We had won the game, so there was no point staying on the field any longer to avoid any reoccurring injuries. I didn't feel the ankle at all during the game – it was more my lungs – and now it's just a case of getting back my match fitness.

"Ideally, I would be on the wing. But the boys on the wing have been playing well so, if it means I play every week, I am happy to play anywhere."

Victory over Oldham, who are coached by former Bulls player Scott Naylor, would lift the Bulls onto minus two points after being docked 12 at the start of the season due to their financial woes.

Caro reflected: "To be on minus four after seven games is amazing. We had a rocky off season so to be in the position we are now – with no pre-season and a whole new team – is a credit to the boys."

He is confident that the Bulls will be too strong for Oldham, who have picked up only three points from their opening six games and currently sit ninth in the Championship table.

Caro said: "If we can play like we have done over the last few weeks, I am sure we can get the win. They have always been a very physical team, so we know what to expect."
