JASON Walton is relishing the prospect of returning to Odsal as Featherstone Rovers prepare to tackle the Bulls in the Challenge Cup.

Rovers and tomorrow's opponents boast eight cup triumphs between them and the competition means a great deal to both clubs.

Walton, who joined Featherstone in January after originally signing for Bradford late last year, is looking forward to taking on the side he never had the chance to feature for due to the Bulls' financial implosion.

The former Salford star is expecting a closely-contested fourth-round tie but insists the Rovers are desperate to book their place in the competition's fifth round.

"I started pre-season training last year with Bradford, so it will be a little strange to return there as a Featherstone player," said Walton.

"The lads are really looking forward to it. It is going to be a game that generates a lot of interest and we intend to come out on top.

"As long as we perform and work hard, we will get what we deserve. We have got a great squad and are continuing to improve as the weeks go by.

"We got back on the horse on Sunday with a good win and the next step for us is progressing in the Challenge Cup. We won't settle for anything less."

Walton scored twice as Jon Sharp's second-placed side swept aside Sheffield Eagles in the Championship.

The former Batley Bulldog, who has proved a star signing since arriving at the Big Fellas Stadium, is now hoping consistency will follow.

Walton said: "We worked hard going into the Sheffield game, after being caught off guard by Rochdale the week before, and the results were there to see.

"We went well in attack but our defence will need to improve if we want to beat Bradford. They are starting to making strides and we realise their threat.

"We need to get back on a roll, stringing the victories together as we were doing. No-one wants to get knocked out of the cup."
