LEIGH Beattie felt the Bulls righted the wrongs of London with their emphatic win over Batley at Odsal.

The Bulls ran in eight tries on the way to a 44-22 triumph which lifts them up to minus six points in the Championship table.

Interim coach Beattie was delighted with the way they got the previous week's defeat in the capital out of the system and said: "It was a good response. I thought we played very well.

"We were poor first half. There were too many errors and I think we completed at (only) 50 per cent. But we fixed a lot second half and Leon Pryce controlled it in there.

"I thought Johnny Campbell was outstanding and Oscar Thomas was good coming into the line. We showed some strong, tough character in the middle."

The score was 18-18 at the interval but the Bulls tightened up their act from the restart to boss the second 40 minutes.

Beattie had gone with the old heads of Pryce and Lee Smith as the half-back pairing and their experience proved pivotal as Batley lost their discipline, with the Bulldogs having two players sin-binned.

"They had a few sin-binned and might have run out of gas a bit – but we kept letting them back into the game with our errors," said Beattie.

"Last week everyone was disappointed. We spoke about it in training and people have bounced back.

"I thought we were in it right from the start but we kept handing them the ball. We made hard work of it. But we fixed it up at half-time and that was very pleasing.

"We told them to be professional and manage the game a bit better and not to get involved in things. They've responded well to what we've been doing.

"We came up with a lot of errors last week and the way we started, I thought we were going to go down the same route. But they fixed it themselves at half-time and that's very pleasing to see."

The Bulls have a break from league action next week as they host Featherstone in the Challenge Cup fourth round.

They are at home again the following week against winless Dewsbury and another victory then would cut the gap to the Rams to just four points.

Beattie said: "Featherstone is a massive game but we'll take each one as it comes. We've got that to deal with and then we'll worry about Dewsbury."

Batley coach Matt Diskin was hugely disappointed with their performance on his return to Odsal.

Diskin admitted: "I thought we were very poor. We gave away far too many penalties and our application was way off."
