A COMPANY called Bradford Bulls Capital Limited has been registered with Companies House.

The company has been registered by David Thorne, a New Zealand-born businessman who has had previous links with rugby union in the UK.

It is understood Mr Thorne led the final bid to buy the Bulls, which was eventually withdrawn before the club went into liquidation.

The new company was registered with Companies House yesterday, January 5.

Mr Thorne has experience in sport in the UK, saving rugby union club Wasps from bankruptcy in 2012 alongside businessman Derek Richardson, and was previously a director of Premiership Rugby.

The formation of the new company comes four days before the deadline for expressions of interest to the Rugby Football League from parties who want to start a new club in Bradford.

The RFL issued its list of criteria for what interested parties need to provide in their bids to start a new club in the city.

The new club will start in the Kingstone Press Championship with a 12-point deduction.

Around ten expressions of interest have already been submitted to the RFL to start a new club.

The Bulls ceased trading on Tuesday after being liquidated by administrator Gary Pettit.

Following the liquidation, many of the Bulls' biggest names have signed for different clubs after becoming free agents, including Alex Mellor, James Clare, and Tom Olbison.
